The Blackneck (Lygephila pastinum) 27 June 2008

An unexpected species (the 350th for the garden) and, in contrast to the docile Buff-tip, one of the least co-operative moths i've ever tried to photograph.

Xestia triangulum, Cambridge, 17 June 2008

The dark grey hindwing, with strongly contrasting border, on this individual distinguishes this species from the very similar X. ditrapezium. (With thanks to Ray in Netherhall for his help)

Diarsia sp. Cambridge, 13 June

A Diarsia sp. with forewing length of 16 mm. I have not recorded Ingrailed Clay or Purple Clay in the garden previously. Although just a single Small Square-spot of rather different appearance recorded here so far (see 04Sep07), this is perhaps the most likely id. Comments welcome!
